CITY CELEBRATES PHASE TWO GRAND OPENING OF $32M HOUSING INVESTMENT NEAR ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE

Today Mayor LaRhonda Patrick and Kate Hogan, Director of Community and Economic Development, joined Penrose Development to cut the ribbon for the Phase II grand opening of the Gateway Pointe Apartment Complex.
This $32M investment is a mixed-income/mixed-use 180-unit development adjacent to Robins Air Force Base. It is located on an approximately 15-acre city-owned site and sits adjacent to the newly renovated 10-acre Memorial Park.
“We have experienced tremendous growth over the past decade and keeping pace with housing has been a challenge…but we are up to the task,” said Patrick. “Every citizen in Warner Robins deserves the opportunity to have access to quality, affordable housing.”
Phases I and II are multifamily mixed-income developments with one, two, and three-bedroom units, in three-story garden apartment buildings. They are affordable to households at 50% and 60% Area Median Income, as well as unrestricted market rate units. They have amenities including a fitness center, community/activity room, health/wellness center, and an external gathering area.
Penrose Regional Vice President, Amon Martin spoke of the partnerships established while working through the development, to include support for the neighboring VECTR Center, a veteran’s transition and workforce development facility.
“We are grateful for the 11 fully-furnished apartments that will support up to 20 veterans training in our facility,” said retried Colonel Don Layne, Chief Operating Officer of the VECTR center.
There was plenty of excitement as additional planned growth at the site was announced to occur soon.
“This project is a great example of a Public Private Partnership to ensure the needs of our community are being met,” said Hogan. “We are excited to continue to support these plans through the development of additional phases in this area including a single family for sale component and a commercial footprint.”
The timeline for the new phases of development will be announced soon.Ribbon Cutting
